H&M Design Award 2013 goes to Minju Kim
24th February 2013
There is another organisation supporting young designers. H&M have now begun the H&M design awards to support young designers at the beginning of their careers. Picked from 18 different countries from around the world and different institutions the winning designer gets an estimated £45,000 to support their first collection and selected pieces sold in chosen H&M stores.

This year we saw Minju Kim take the prize with her amazing japanese fused collection named "Dear my Friend". The Belgium Based designer has a real
signature design aestetitic. It's a blend of influences from the 60's to Japanese fashion but really Avant Garde.

It was such a refreshing show to watch and to see the designer actually come out and show a little more on their face than a "fashion pout".

We look Forward to seeing so much much more of Minju and where she takes her Brand and new found title.
The name for the collection "Dear my Friend" is one of the main sources of inspiration for Minju were she had the observations of people she surrounded herself with and the idea of "fake friendships".

Minju took this ideology and created such beauty with her design sketches and clothing. It's a crazy idea how such fun clothing can spawn from dark thoughts.

It's a Great 1st debut collection and we Love it here at the FG.

The Collection Will Be available in selected H&M Stores in Autumn so be on the look out.
