The Fashion Glossary Uk are very pleased to introduce Autre Ne Veut and his new album Anxiety. Sitting at home a few days ago and surfing the web as you do came across Avant R&B artist Autre Ne Veut born Arthur Ashin. We have recently just discovered  Ashin's new mixtape and it has already made it on to our iTunes most played and really is set to stay there.

 

The album has a new take on R&B as we know it and Ashin has joined great artist's  this year such as Frank Ocean, The Weekend and Miguel who are all making strides and proving R&B, (real r&b ) is not dead. 



In an Interview Ashin lets us know the title of the album was more than just a title. "My life through the past few years is I've been in school and in a weird relationship. But the plan with the record was to really get at this baseline of anxiety that a lot of people go through — just the stressful shit that goes on in people's lives. It's not a symbol of me being freaked out in particular."

The influences on Anxiety range from David Byrne to Lee “Scratch” Perry, Laurie Anderson and Annie Lennox to Katy Perry and Rihanna. But Arthur’s primary influence – and the influence most evident in his music – is of karaoke- the solitary person singing along with their favorite song. In karaoke we get to be someone bigger than who we usually are. When we sing karaoke or when we sing in the shower, we get to be gods; gods with bars of soap, gods with plastic cups in our hands.



some of our favourites so far have got to be his debut single "play by play" and "ego free sex free"  one of the more dynamic songs on his LP utilizing more than just a guitar. However Ashin's track remix of "Counting" ft Fellow New Yorker Mykki Blanco can't be denied as the one. It's solemn but really is pushed over the edge with Blanko's verse.



The Brooklynite has proclaimed "he is just making music for himself" and we hope he continues to do so.
